Pair Art Deco Satin Glass Nude Lady Liberty Table Lamps
Lady liberty si surrounded by stars and she wears a stars-spangled headdress and her feet extend into wings. The delineation of her face and figure is crisp adn life-like. hTe square columns sit on square bases, each raised on four feet. The perimeter fo the base is decorated with stars. The baes holds a standard incandescent lamp socket that is energized by a push switch.
The original wiring and switches have been replaced with current materials. Judging from the lady liberty design, these lamps probably date to hte first decade of the 1900s. The approximate dimensions of the lamps are 9inches tall, the column is 3 inches square, and the base is 4â½ inches square.
Each lamp weighs approximately 2â¼ pounds. These lamps are unmarked and i have been unable to identify their creator. They are similar in design to the works of the tiffin company. Their decorative elements and original electrical fittings identify them as american and date them to the late art nouveau/early art deco period. Thsi pair of lamps is in excellent condition. There are some shallow stress cracks in the bases that are only discovered upon close inspection and do not affect either the appearance or the structural integrity of the pieces. There is a small chip on the corner of one of the bases which is shown in a picture. There was originally probably a bushing of some material other than glass that sat inside the circular portion of the base and received the circular bottom of the column. These bushings have been lost with the passage of time and have been replaced by plastic bushings which create a snug fit for the column bottoms, which is shown in a picture.
